Rainbow Rhythm^® 'Storm Shelter' Daylily Hemerocallis hybrid

I’ve been growing this plant in my garden for 2 years. It’s an amazing plant with huge flowers and beautiful colors! I live in a zone 3 so I can tell you that this plant is very hardy!!

This cultivar is amazing. Hybridized by one of the top daylily breeders in the US (Emmerich) the plant is very robust with huge scapes. (flower stalks) With regards to disappointment in the color that other reviewers mentioned there is great variability in most daylily cultivars’ colors. Growing conditions greatly affect the bloom colors and you can be sure the original growers provided the best of care resulting in such beautiful colors. Obviously people are disappointed when their plant doesn’t look like the picture as I too have been disappointed in my other daylily cultivars. Daylilies are one of a very few plants that show this range of colors. Daylilies are extremely hardy plants that can survive most any situation but they thrive with the best of care. In this manner they are like roses but they won’t die like a rose would. A great resource is the American Garden Association at garden.org. Google the daylily name, like ‘daylily Storm Shelter’ and one of the top hits will direct you to that cultivar’s information page. On that page there will be pictures sometimes 10 or more. There you will see the color variations that other growers have. My suggestion is pamper them with great quality soil and fertilizer and adjust the pH of your soil. You should see improvements in the colors.

Nice healthy plants, but the color of the flower is not as shown on the tag. It is not the beautiful dark purple.
