Professional Growing Information I planted 2 of these in my parents 6b raised bed. I have impatiently waited for their development, and I am not disappointed. The foliage is spectacular, the flowers are just starting to bloom....an absolute stunner! I will be adding more of these to my gardens. (I will say, my father almost pulled the plants thinking they were dead - but they just slept in longer than the others did this winter. Make sure you don't make the same mistake.)

Maintenance Notes:Hibiscus love the sun and need moist, well-drained soil. Keeping these plants watered will result in larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadheading will improve the appearance of the plant, but is not necessary for continued bloom. It is best to plant Hibiscus in the garden before the heat of the summer arrives, and should be heavily mulched the first winter. In spring, cut back any remaining stems before new growth appears. Do not trim back in fall. A strong pair of loppers or a saw will be necessary to cut this plant back. Be advised that Hibiscus is always one of the last perennials to emerge in spring. Be patient, even if you think it is dead, it most likely isn't. Its vigorous growth rate more than makes up for this late start, however. Japanese beetles find these plants especially delicious.

Very disappointed in the color of the blooms. The plant quality is good and growing well. The blooms are a very deep red. Not the color as shown on screen. I checked the labels on the plants after bloom in case I was delivered the wrong color. I am sorry I ordered this color, it is not at all what I was expecting.

Beautiful plant. But it is not deer resistant. Deer devoured the leaves 2 days after I planted it. I had to fence it off.

This is a magnificent specimen plant! I did put up some support stakes, with strong fishing line to help the branches not get weighted down with the blooms. We had a mild winter, and it had no problems growing this spring. It has fared through some summer heat, with a couple of days of 100's (one even a record setting 111 degrees), and I keep it watered well with a drip system.

My first Hibiscus! I just got this 2 weeks ago showing no buds, planted in large pots and I already have a plate size bloom (July 1) with lots of other buds forming. Sun is good for this one. Love it, can't wait to get a full bush by pinching the stems next spring!

Stunningly beautiful in Zone 6. I planted it last spring and it sported numerous blooms by summer. It dies back to the ground in winter and should be pruned back (I left about 6”), but it re-sprouted promptly and is getting even bigger this year. A ton of flower buds have already appeared by late June and I look forward to another beautiful show this summer.

Magnificent ! I love the huge dark red flowers. Altough it needs a winter protection in my area (tried twicw to cultivate it). It's Worth the efforts. Plante magnifique vec d'énormes fleurs rouge foncé. La vedette de ma plate-bande. Malgré un besoin de protection hivernale accru, je l'adore !!!
