    • We placed these striking spotty beauties out in large planters in full sun last spring, with hot pink and silver annuals. Didn’t even take them out of their pots, just sunk them down into soil. Over the season, temps hovered in the upper 90s, with dry spells and no watering, the plants loved it. There were also several severe storms, and the pots got waterlogged. The plants sat in water for several days (oops!) before we realized. No issues, they just kept on thriving while the other plants in the planters struggled and failed. We pulled the pots out of the planters in the fall after temps dipped into the 40s, and stuck them in the house in a spot that gets only a little indirect morning sun. We then proceeded to ignore them, watering maybe twice over the winter. Due to freezing temps, they are still inside, and still growing happily. We’ll put them back out in their planters in a month or so, when it’s safe. These mangaves are like an agave’s spicy weird cousin. They have a vaguely carnivorous quality about them, and the purple spots against the icy blue give old horror movie retro vibes (LOVE!) They look great close up, as well as having a great profile from a distance due to the large strong leaves. Like something you’d expect to see in an alien landscape. They have tolerated every condition, and if anything, look even better than the day we bought them, even having grown quite a bit! We’re looking forward to getting some of the other mangave varieties. Fussier plants will be ignored in lieu of these tough, gorgeous gems. Proven Winners indeed!
