Glenn Andersen was virtually born into the greenhouse industry. From 1958 to 1985, his family ran a wholesale bedding plant greenhouse which they eventually sold. In 1986 Andersen opened Nordic Nurseries Ltd., which specialized in unusual and unique 4-inch bedding plants, vegetative propagation, and a large crop of fall pansies. In January 1997, Nordic Nurseries Ltd. moved to their current site, in Abbotsford, BC, which now consists of an 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, glass venlo propagation greenhouse and a 25,000 square foot, screened, double-poly stock plant house. Now Glenn focuses on propagating the best quality, most unique plants for his customers. He also grows 2 1/2 to 6 inch bedding plants, as well as mixed hanging baskets. His main focus though, continues to be propagation through cuttings.

Glenn Andersen and Nordic Nurseries support the greenhouse industry through membership in United Flower Growers, Ornamental Plant Development Team, the Canadian Ornamental Plant Foundation and Flowers Canada. In recognition of their efforts and contributions to the industry, they won the Van Dusen Garden Show Award for Exhibit Design and Display Excellence in 1996.

As a result of their involvement with the introduction of new potted annuals, Nordic Nurseries developed an interest in growing Proven Winners for the Canadian market. They began propagating for the broker market and were offered a Canadian sub-license. Proven Winners was an instant success in the Canadian market and quickly moved to the forefront of Nordic Nurseries' product line. Canadian gardeners are very enthusiastic about new plant introductions and the Proven Winners varieties perform exceptionally well in the temperate climates of western Canada. Supertunias^™ have been the most successful new introduction on the local market in many years. Andersen looks forward to a bright future with Proven Winners, because of their strong ties to some of the world's foremost plant breeders.

At Nordic Nurseries Ltd. they are working with their customers to help make the Proven Winners line more familiar to the general public. For the past few years they have put on a beautiful Proven Winners display at the Van Dusen Garden Show where they have won awards in the display category, hanging basket category and the container planting category. They also regularly advertise Proven Winners in consumer gardening magazines, as well as setting up Proven Winners booths at trade shows.
